Senior Dental Officer – Skye & Lochalsh

About the role

The NHS Highland Public Dental Service is seeking a full‑time Senior Dental Officer to deliver comprehensive dental care at its Dunvegan and Kyle of Lochalsh clinics. You will serve patients who cannot access NHS dentistry through general dental practices, including those with anxiety who may require inhalation sedation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide the full range of General Dental Services to priority‑group patients, including anxious patients.
• Oversee and coordinate quality improvement and audit activities across the NHS Highland Dental Service.
• Manage appraisal processes for all Public Dental Service clinicians.

Required profile

• Clinical experience treating priority‑group and routine dental patients.
• GDC registration as a dentist and successful listing with the Health Board.
• Strong communication skills and ability to manage challenging patient behaviours.
• Driving licence desirable; Gaelic speakers are welcome.

What we offer

• Salary Band B: £87,337 – £102,153 per annum (pro‑rata, 2026‑2027 rates).
• Eligibility for remote and rural allowance.
