About the role
MAGROUP Magnaghi UK is seeking a Senior Design Engineering Lead to join its engineering team in Stroud, Gloucestershire. Reporting to the project chief engineer, you will lead the conceptual design of landing‑gear assemblies and components for a new development programme.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct trade and sensitivity studies on landing‑gear concepts, considering installation, tolerances, structural sizing, bay space, kinematics, manufacturing and assembly constraints.
- Collaborate with the chief engineer, stress engineer and product development team to finalise and document trade studies.
- Manage product configuration trees in CATIA V5 and Siemens TeamCenter PDM for each trade‑study configuration.
- Maintain the CATIA V5 DMU environment for internal development and customer interfaces.
- Generate landing‑gear assembly and component designs in CATIA, incorporating customer requirements, team feedback and FAA/EASA regulations.
- Produce design analysis and trade‑study reports for customer submission.
Required profile
- 8‑10 years of aircraft industry experience designing landing‑gear, mechanisms or hydraulic actuation equipment.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or 10‑15 years of specific landing‑gear design experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance and residency in the UK for at least five years.
Required skills
- Proficiency in CATIA V5 (detail design, kinematics, DMU).
- Experience with Siemens TeamCenter PDM.
- Conducting trade and sensitivity studies for landing‑gear concepts.
- Knowledge of ARP1311, ARP1595, ARP5908, AIR4566, AIR1800 specifications.
- Understanding of FAA/EASA regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with ARP4754 requirements integration.
- Expertise in hydraulic and electric actuation systems.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and electric brake mechanisms.
- Understanding of aerospace materials and manufacturing processes.
