Senior Digital Engineer (Java)

About the role

Love2Shop is looking for a Senior Digital Engineer to design, build and maintain high‑quality web and mobile products that power its payments and rewards platform. You will work closely with product, design and QA teams to deliver secure, scalable digital journeys for millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain web and mobile applications using Java, Spring and React Native, applying SOLID principles.
• Shape architecture and technical direction with a focus on scalability, performance and maintainability.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from feature scoping to production delivery, within an agile team.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and QA engineers to turn concepts into production‑ready features.
• Lead code reviews, promote best practices and provide constructive feedback.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a knowledge‑sharing culture.
• Write secure, compliant code meeting PCI DSS, GDPR and other regulatory standards.
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across the stack.
• Support and improve CI/CD pipelines, continuous delivery and test automation.
• Maintain accurate documentation and provide out‑of‑hours production support on a rota.

Required profile

• Proven experience building cross‑platform mobile apps with React Native.
• Strong backend development background using Java and Spring, preferably with large or mature codebases.
• Experience deploying Java applications on Apache Tomcat or IBM WebSphere.
• Solid understanding of secure coding, data‑protection and regulated environments such as payment processing.
• Demonstrated ability to work with RESTful APIs and integrate third‑party services.
