Senior Enemy (Systems) Designer

About the role

NaturalMotion is seeking a Senior Enemy (Systems) Designer to shape the combat experience for its upcoming first‑person shooter mobile title. The role sits at the crossroads of design, art, animation, audio and engineering, ensuring enemy encounters are polished, purposeful and fun. The position is hybrid, with two days per week in the London studio.

Key responsibilities

• Own the design, prototyping and implementation of enemy behaviours, AI systems, boss encounters and related features.
• Take enemies and bosses from paper concepts through to shipping‑quality assets, ensuring they are complete, polished and enjoyable.
• Collaborate with Level Design and Combat Design to align enemy, faction and NPC goals throughout development.
• Define and track metrics for enemy performance and iterate based on data.
• Work closely with art, animation, audio and engineering teams in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Develop and balance a diverse roster of enemies, bosses, mutators and other combat elements.
• Create compelling AI behaviours and attack patterns that provide exciting and appropriately challenging experiences.
• Analyse combat data, player feedback and internal playtests to refine designs.
• Manage multiple features in parallel, prioritising content pipelines effectively.
• Document and communicate enemy and boss design concepts clearly across teams.

Required profile

• Previous experience in combat or enemy design, or an equivalent role in the video‑game industry.
• At least one shipped title in a design role for a shooter, action or RPG game.
• Proven experience designing and implementing enemy AI, behaviours and encounters for action games.
• Experience working on first‑person or third‑person games.
