Senior Engineer

About the role

Kier is seeking a Senior Engineer to join its Structural and Geotechnical Engineering Team, working on high‑profile highway and infrastructure projects across the UK. The role can be based in London, Birmingham or Manchester with flexible remote working and occasional office visits.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the delivery of technical outputs, acting as Lead Designer on team projects.
• Conduct inspection, assessment and design of highway structures to UK standards, including scheme investigations and feasibility studies.
• Prepare tender documents, supervise construction inspections and support the development of detailed designs.
• Drive improvements to Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) across all project phases.

Required profile

• Degree in a relevant engineering discipline with Chartered/Incoporated status (or progressing towards it).
• Demonstrable experience in inspection, assessment and design of highway structures to UK standards.
• Familiarity with Eurocodes and the main management systems and processes used in a similar engineering business.

Required skills

• Proficiency with relevant design software.
• Strong knowledge of Eurocodes.
• Understanding of SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Quality) processes.
