Senior Engineer – Sustainable Transport & Cycling Infrastructure

About the role

Transport Planning & Engineering Ltd (TP&E) is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the planning, design and delivery of sustainable transport and cycling infrastructure across its portfolio. Based in Glasgow, the role combines civil engineering expertise with a passion for active travel to create inclusive, people‑focused networks.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design of walking and cycling infrastructure, producing technical drawings and detailed design packages.
• Prepare reports, feasibility studies and sustainable transport strategies for clients and public authorities.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, mentor junior engineers and ensure compliance with safety, accessibility and road‑user standards.
• Engage with clients, stakeholders and community groups to gather requirements and present design solutions.
• Oversee site visits and monitor construction progress to verify design intent.

Required profile

• Degree in civil engineering, transport engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong background in civil/transport engineering with experience designing cycling and walking infrastructure.
• Proven ability to manage projects and work collaboratively with clients and public bodies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to sustainable, inclusive transport solutions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD design and drafting tools.
