Senior Group Derivative Accountant

About the role

As a Senior Group Derivative Accountant you will join ScottishPower’s Group Control team, reporting to the Projects and Financial Governance Manager. You will play a pivotal part in managing the accounting for complex hedging instruments that support the company’s large‑scale renewable energy and grid investment programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare derivative financial results for ScottishPower across all IBE financial cycles (actuals, reported, revenue and budget).
• Ensure accurate end‑to‑end accounting of derivatives from inception through execution to closure, including embedded derivatives in purchase contracts.
• Produce entity and consolidated disclosures for Iberdrola reporting and statutory accounts.
• Implement derivative‑related accounting policy changes across the SP Group.
• Support ad‑hoc projects and contribute to Group Financial Controller objectives.
• Foster collaborative relationships with business control teams and wider stakeholders.

Required profile

• Strong background in financial accounting, preferably within the energy or utilities sector.
• Experience with derivative accounting, hedging strategies, and related regulatory reporting.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining data integrity and accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Technical accounting knowledge of derivatives (FX, commodity, interest, inflation).
• Familiarity with UK GAAP/IFRS reporting standards.
• Proficiency in preparing consolidated financial statements and disclosures.
