Senior Highways Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Highways Engineer to join our Highways Design team in Birmingham/Rushden. The role involves developing concept, preliminary and detailed designs for a variety of highway and infrastructure projects while working in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake feasibility, preliminary and detailed design of highway maintenance and improvement schemes using AutoCAD and prepare contract drawings.
• Support and review the work of other team members, fostering their development and growth.
• Collaborate with other design disciplines in Common Data Environments to deliver integrated solutions.
• Prepare fee estimates, design programmes, tender and contract documents.
• Build relationships with clients and stakeholders and attend meetings as required.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field with significant post‑graduate experience in highways design.
• Chartered (CEng) or Incorporated (IEng) professional status, or working towards it with ICE, CIHT or IHE.
• Experience with highways geometry, pavement design, signs & road markings, drainage and vehicle restraint systems.
