Senior IT Project Manager – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term

About the role

British Transport Police is seeking a Senior IT Project Manager to lead organisation‑wide technology transformation projects. You will be responsible for delivering complex IT initiatives on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, supporting operational decision‑making across the rail network.

Key responsibilities

• Lead medium‑to‑large IT projects from initiation through delivery, ensuring successful end‑to‑end outcomes.
• Translate strategic requirements into detailed project plans, business cases, and governance documentation.
• Manage project costs, benefits, risks, issues and inter‑dependencies across multiple stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts to capture requirements, design benefit measurement plans and pilot innovative digital solutions.
• Drive business change activities to embed technology solutions and enhance digital capabilities for operational staff.
• Work with technical and data specialists to define data requirements and ensure data quality, security and governance controls.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering complex IT transformation projects at scale.
• Strong stakeholder communication skills, including presenting complex scope and progress updates.
• Expertise in project governance, business case development, risk management and benefits realisation.
• Strong data literacy and confidence working with data teams to define requirements and track outcomes.
• Ability to lead, support and develop a team of change professionals.
• Proactive, optimistic team player with a focus on delivering measurable improvements.
