Senior Legal Counsel – Commercial Property

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel with extensive commercial property experience to join a multinational property development group in London. The role will be the sole legal advisor in the UK office, handling a wide range of transactional and regulatory matters.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial leases, sale and purchase agreements, construction contracts, consultancy and planning documents, including s106 and guarantees.
• Conduct due diligence, title investigations and manage acquisition/disposal transactions.
• Advise on disputes, prepare pre‑action correspondence, and coordinate with external counsel on arbitration, adjudication and litigation.
• Prepare board resolutions and secure internal approvals before contract execution.
• Represent the group with regulators, governmental bodies and external parties.
• Oversee external law firms, monitor legal costs and ensure compliance with approved budgets.
• Collaborate with the Group General Counsel on corporate governance, insurance, risk management and company secretarial matters.

Required profile

• Solicitor qualified in England and Wales.
• Minimum 7 years post‑qualification experience in residential and mixed‑use property development, sales and purchases, and commercial lease documentation.
• Ability to work independently on complex legal matters.
• Desirable experience in construction law and prior work for a UK property developer.
