Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join a respected in‑house legal team within a large, complex organisation. The role combines high‑level commercial and technology law work with leadership of junior lawyers and close partnership with senior business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead negotiation and drafting of complex commercial and technology agreements.
• Provide advice on SaaS, software, outsourcing and procurement arrangements.
• Support strategic business projects and transformation initiatives.
• Advise on data privacy, governance and risk‑management matters.
• Act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders across the business.
• Manage and develop junior members of the legal team.
• Instruct and oversee external counsel when required.
• Help shape legal risk‑management policies and best‑practice standards.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with 9‑12 years post‑qualification experience.
• Strong background in commercial contracts and technology law.
• Experience in a regulated environment is advantageous.
• Excellent stakeholder‑management and commercial acumen.
• Proven ability to balance legal risk with business objectives.
• Previous mentoring, supervisory or people‑management experience.
