Senior Management Accountant / Financial Controller (SME)

About the role

Join a fast‑growing SME as a Senior Management Accountant / Financial Controller in Leeds. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will own the day‑to‑day finance function, influence strategic decisions and help shape the business as it scales.

Key responsibilities

• Produce accurate monthly management accounts and board reports.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and cash‑flow forecasting.
• Maintain robust financial controls, governance and statutory reporting (VAT, corporation tax, audit).
• Deliver insightful financial analysis to support commercial decision‑making.
• Build and maintain relationships with banks, auditors and external advisers.
• Identify and implement improvements to systems, processes and reporting.
• Support strategic projects, business planning and future growth initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with 2‑5 years post‑qualification experience.
• Experience gained within a growing SME environment, comfortable with hands‑on finance work.
• Ambitious, looking for ownership and visibility within the finance function.
