Senior Manager, Financial Partnerships, Banking & New Market Development, EMEA

About the role

Airwallex, the AI-native financial operating system used by more than 675,000 businesses, is looking for a Senior Manager to lead its banking partnerships strategy across the UK and Europe. You will build and manage relationships with banking partners, financial institutions, payment networks, local acquirers and payment methods, and help expand Airwallex into new geographies. The role is based in the London office three days a week.

Key responsibilities

• Own Airwallex's banking partnerships strategy across the UK and Europe, supporting the growth of its global collections and payouts network.
• Build and manage strategic relationships with banking partners, financial institutions, payment networks, local acquirers and payment methods, acting as the main point of contact.
• Identify and evaluate partnership opportunities as Airwallex expands into new geographies, using market research and competitive insight.
• Coordinate due diligence and project-manage onboarding with prospective partners, working across Product, Legal, Compliance, Finance and Commercial teams.
• Develop your profile as an industry thought leader while working with banking infrastructure.

Required profile

• 10+ years' experience working with financial institutions, global and regional banks and payment networks.
• Experience building relationships with financial institutions in the UK and Europe while working at a payment institution or EMI.
• Strong network of banking partners, financial institutions and payment networks.
• International experience across multiple markets or managing cross-border relationships.
• Proven track record with technology-led businesses in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable owning the roadmap, making decisions with incomplete information and advocating for a position before supporting the team's direction.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of compliance and onboarding requirements for global and regional banks.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams (Product, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Commercial).
• Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, and attention to detail.
