Senior OpenShift Platform Engineer

About the role

Boeing is seeking a Senior OpenShift Platform Engineer to join its Infrastructure Team in the United Kingdom. The role involves day‑to‑day support and maintenance of Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and the broader Red Hat Linux estate, serving multiple programmes including Ministry of Defence Information Services.

Key responsibilities

• Implement, configure, and support enterprise OpenShift environments (v3 & v4) across production and non‑production clusters.
• Perform installations, upgrades, patching, and software implementations for OpenShift and related Linux systems.
• Monitor and troubleshoot incidents, problems, service requests, and change tasks to meet SLA and KPI targets.
• Automate infrastructure tasks, including patching, monitoring, and container platform operations using Ansible/Ansible Tower.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve efficiency, design best‑practice solutions, and support migration projects.
• Participate in a 24 × 7 on‑call rotation, providing extended‑hours support as required.

Required profile

• Ability to obtain UK Security Check (SC) clearance.
• Hands‑on experience with large‑scale OpenShift installations, upgrades, and migrations.
• Proven experience in Red Hat OpenShift administration and container monitoring.
• Experience diagnosing performance issues and implementing mitigation plans.
• Willingness to be on‑call roughly one day in five as part of a team rota.

Required skills

• Red Hat OpenShift (v3.x & v4.x), including Operators, registry, networking, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Container technologies: Docker, Kubernetes.
• Linux/UNIX operating systems: RHEL, CentOS, HPUX, Solaris.
• Automation tools: Ansible, Ansible Tower.
• Scripting for automation (e.g., Bash, Python).
• Container monitoring tools and metrics.
