Senior Payroll Officer – Hybrid (London)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join a large public‑sector organisation in London. The role offers hybrid working and full ownership of the end‑to‑end payroll lifecycle, allowing you to influence system improvements and compliance across a complex environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the end‑to‑end payroll production cycle.
• Ensure payroll accuracy and statutory compliance.
• Perform payroll reconciliations and General Ledger balancing.
• Handle HMRC year‑end processes and statutory reporting.
• Support pension administration, including public‑sector schemes.
• Lead Oracle Payroll testing, upgrades and system enhancements.
• Mentor and develop payroll team members.
• Drive process improvements and resolve complex payroll queries.

Required profile

• Proven end‑to‑end payroll experience.
• Hands‑on Oracle Payroll experience (essential).
• Strong knowledge of payroll reconciliation and General Ledger.
• Deep understanding of UK payroll legislation.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working in a large, complex organisation.
