Senior Privacy Counsel - Cybersecurity & Trust

About the role

Atlassian is looking for a highly skilled, internationally experienced Privacy attorney to join its Privacy team as Senior Privacy Counsel - Cybersecurity & Trust, reporting to the Director of Privacy - Cybersecurity & Trust. The role sits in the Cybersecurity & Trust vertical, a global team of privacy professionals with backgrounds in incident management, contract negotiation and privacy compliance. Atlassian can hire from anywhere in the United Kingdom for this position.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with business teams to investigate and manage legal obligations arising during incidents, offering compliant, business-focused solutions
• Advise Security and Product Abuse teams on implementing controls to mitigate security risks and comply with applicable laws
• Support Go-To-Market teams with privacy counsel throughout the customer lifecycle, including pre-sales content, global privacy law compliance, customer migrations to Cloud and privacy negotiations
• Engage directly with customers in the EMEA region to address their privacy needs, adapting guidance to local business practices and cultural nuances
• Track emerging global privacy laws and regulations and help prepare practical responses to new requirements
• Work with Governance, Risk & Compliance on certifications, audit cycles and the creation of privacy policies and standards

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience practicing law, including advice during incidents, deal negotiation and compliance advice
• Necessary qualifications to practice law in your local jurisdiction
• Ability to explain complex legal and technical concepts clearly and communicate with senior leaders
• Demonstrated growth mindset and ability to thrive in a dynamic, remote-friendly, globally distributed workplace

Required skills

• Knowledge of privacy laws such as GDPR and CCPA
• Knowledge of ISO 27701 and SOC2 frameworks
• CIPP certification valued but not required
