Senior Product Engineer, CoE

About the role

Airwallex, the AI-native financial operating system used by more than 675,000 businesses, is hiring a Senior Product Engineer for its Finance Center of Excellence (CoE). Reporting directly to the CFO, you will shape the future of the Finance team at the intersection of strategy, technology and execution, defining and delivering the global Finance function. You will work from the London office three days a week.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose gaps, design the target state and build the solutions that get the Finance function there.
• Connect processes, data and platforms, and make thoughtful build-versus-buy decisions.
• Align stakeholders around a clear transformation journey.
• Embed with global Finance teams to identify high-impact use cases and own the AI transformation roadmap.
• Take technical solutions from prototype to production and codify working patterns into reusable building blocks.
• Track and communicate outcomes, and help drive adoption, upskilling and accountability.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software or forward-deployed engineering experience.
• Strong product sense, able to judge engineering decisions through a commercial lens and link technical work to user experience and business impact.
• Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to map technical specifications from high-level direction.
• Pragmatic, resourceful and self-directed, able to discuss deep technical trade-offs with infrastructure teams and present simplified product outcomes to executives.
• Preferred: strong academic credentials, experience in management consulting, systems integration or digital transformation, hands-on finance systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and automation/AI tools, familiarity with data architecture and BI, experience with generative AI, LLMs or automated agents, fintech or payments background, and prior experience as a founder or early employee.
