Senior Production Controller – 2‑3 Month Contract (Freelance)

About the role

We are looking for a highly organised Senior Production Controller to join a leading children’s publisher on a short‑term freelance contract. The role starts in August and will last for approximately two to three months, supporting the full list of titles through the production pipeline.

Key responsibilities

• Manage production schedules and monitor title progress across frontlist and backlist.
• Oversee delivery of multiple formats, including co‑editions and competition titles.
• Coordinate testing stages and production checkpoints to ensure quality and timeliness.
• Liaise with internal teams and global suppliers to keep projects on track.
• Maintain high production standards for award‑winning children’s books.

Required profile

• Strong experience in physical book production, preferably within children’s publishing.
• Excellent eye for detail and exceptional organisational abilities.
• Creative and proactive mindset with the capacity to juggle multiple priorities.
• Ability to work autonomously while collaborating with a supportive internal team and external partners.

Required skills

• Colour pre‑press knowledge.
• Safety testing processes (desirable but not essential).
• Experience with co‑edition or co‑production workflows.
