Senior Social Worker – Complex Care Needs (Locum)

About the role
We are seeking a Senior Social Worker to join the Complex Care Needs team in Wakefield. The role focuses on supporting children with disabilities aged 0‑18, delivering assessments, safeguarding, support packages and child protection plans during a period of service restructuring.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments for children with additional needs.
- Develop and review support packages and child protection plans.
- Provide safeguarding advice and intervene where necessary.
- Manage a caseload of approximately 20‑25 families, balancing high‑frequency and low‑frequency visits.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary partners to ensure coordinated care.
Required profile
- Understanding of additional needs and disability‑specific practice.
- Strong statutory social work knowledge.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, young people and families.
- Passion for working with children and families.
- Willingness to register with Remedy and undergo an enhanced DBS check.
