Senior Software Engineer

About the role

MDA Space is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its UK team working on advanced space sensors and payloads. You will contribute to both on‑board software and ground‑test software that enable cutting‑edge space missions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop on‑board software and ground‑test software for payloads and sensors.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, sharing knowledge and supporting validation activities.
• Identify root‑cause issues, create test cases, and deliver robust solutions.
• Estimate resources and schedule end‑to‑end software delivery for internal and external customers.
• Produce clear documentation, API specifications, and presentations for the software and validation teams.
• Travel to other MDA or partner locations as needed to support project objectives.

Required profile

• Proven ability to translate requirements into software designs.
• Experience developing C++11 applications for both Windows and Linux environments.
• Familiarity with formal development, testing, integration, and documentation processes.
• Strong analytical skills and the capacity to estimate effort and resources.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for documentation and presentations.
