Senior Software Engineer, New Products

About the role

Airwallex, the AI-native financial operating system used by more than 675,000 businesses, is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Founders' Lab, an internal innovation hub that turns ambitious ideas into financial products tested with real users. The role combines software engineering and product judgement, moving from executive vision to working software quickly, with end-to-end ownership across the full product lifecycle. It is based in London in hybrid mode, three days a week in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the CEO and global leadership to turn strategic visions and AI capabilities into market-ready financial software in weeks.
• Shape product direction by combining business requirements, regulatory realities, user needs and emerging technology.
• Run rapid proofs of concept, deploy products to live users and test market fit while keeping solid technical foundations.
• Deliver end-to-end solutions across the stack, from backend architecture and API design to frontend polish.
• Build clean, maintainable software from ambiguous direction, owning both product and engineering.

Required profile

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong foundation in backend architecture and confidence across the full stack when needed.
• Track record of shipping products from scratch in a high-growth startup, corporate innovation lab or greenfield environment.
• Strong product and commercial judgement, able to challenge assumptions and evaluate technical decisions through the lens of user experience and business impact.
• Comfortable with high ambiguity and turning executive direction into clean, maintainable software.
• Preferred: experience with generative AI, large language models or intelligent workflow automation; fintech, payments, compliance or money-movement infrastructure; experience as a startup founder, founding engineer or technical lead of a rapid-prototyping team.
