Senior Solicitor / Licensed Conveyancer – Leasehold Transactions (Maternity Cover)

About the role

We are seeking a senior solicitor or licensed conveyancer to provide specialist leasehold transaction support for a national property group. The role is a maternity‑cover fixed‑term position based in Southend‑on‑Sea, with one day per week of remote work.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of leasehold matters including lease extensions, collective enfranchisements, deeds of variation and licences.
• Draft and review residential property transaction documents and ensure accurate case management.
• Provide clear, commercial legal advice to internal stakeholders and support property transactions across the business.
• Liaise with external solicitors and professional advisers as required.
• Support junior team members and contribute to departmental efficiency.
• Assist with additional property‑related legal work as needed.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) or Licensed Conveyancer.
• Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience in residential property and leasehold transactions, preferably from private practice or an in‑house team.
• Demonstrated experience handling lease extensions, collective enfranchisements and related landlord‑tenant matters.
• Highly organised with the ability to manage a busy workload.
• Previous supervisory experience is advantageous but not essential.
