Senior Systems Engineer – Optical Ground System Operations

About the role

Archangel Lightworks is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the design, integration and testing of cloud‑based software that connects its Optical Ground Stations with operational systems and external partners. The role blends systems engineering, software architecture and operational workflow management to ensure reliable, high‑performance communications for space applications.

Key responsibilities

• Define and document system‑level requirements for cloud services supporting Optical Ground Stations.
• Design scalable, secure and reliable architectures, including API management.
• Act as the primary technical liaison for integration partners, providing guidance and support.
• Plan and execute system integration, testing and initial operational validation.
• Lead sprint planning, manage Agile workflows and ensure timely delivery of team tasks.
• Produce and maintain comprehensive system documentation, user manuals, API specifications and operational procedures.
• Mentor mid‑level and junior engineers, influencing technical decisions and best practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience in systems engineering for cloud‑based platforms.
• Strong ability to translate ambiguous requirements into concrete designs.
• Experience leading small technical teams and coordinating cross‑functional projects.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with internal stakeholders and external partners.
