Senior Tooling Design Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Tooling Design Engineer you will lead the creation of tools, fixtures, jigs and specialised equipment for manufacturing processes. You will collaborate with in‑house engineers and global cross‑functional teams to ensure designs meet quality, efficiency and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a design team of UK and Indian engineers and subcontractors through the full tooling development cycle.
• Define project deliverables, priorities and schedules with the Engineering Manager and Technical Lead.
• Produce detailed 3D models, mechanical manufacturing drawings, scheme layouts and operation & maintenance manuals.
• Perform power and stress calculations, cost‑effectiveness assessments and FEA, DRA and FMEA analyses.
• Track project hours, report progress and manage technical risks.
• Provide out‑of‑hours support and ensure adherence to fault‑free forward‑engineering principles.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading tooling or mechanical design projects in an industrial environment.
• Ability to coordinate remote teams across multiple regions.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and safety standards.
• Excellent communication with engineering managers and cross‑functional stakeholders.
