Senior Vice President, Assistant General Counsel – Litigation

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a senior litigation lawyer to lead the defence of complex, high‑profile antitrust and commercial litigation across the UK and Europe. Based in London, the SVP, Assistant General Counsel – Litigation will shape the company’s litigation strategy and work closely with business partners, internal counsel and external law firms.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategy for high‑risk commercial and antitrust cases, including class actions.
• Provide strategic advice to senior executives on legal and financial risks.
• Collaborate with investor relations, communications and leadership to manage reputational risk.
• Oversee e‑discovery processes and data governance for litigation matters.
• Manage a large network of external counsel and associated budgets.
• Lead a team, including one direct report, within the global litigation function.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading complex commercial and antitrust litigation in the UK and Europe.
• Proven track record handling class actions and high‑profile disputes.
• Strong ability to advise senior business leaders and influence decision‑making.
• Excellent communication skills for internal and external stakeholder engagement.
