Senior Vice President – Global Spread Products Lawyer

About the role

Citi is seeking a Senior Vice President to lead legal counsel for its Spread Products business within Markets Legal. Based in London, the role provides strategic legal guidance to the Sales & Trading team that handles credit trading activities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver expert legal advice on product structuring, trading, and financing transactions.
• Support strategic initiatives and business planning with legal risk assessments.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including compliance, risk, and regional legal teams, to ensure coordinated outcomes.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage legal, regulatory, and reputational risks.
• Lead day‑to‑day legal matters as the subject‑matter expert for Spread Products.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with extensive experience in markets, credit trading, and related regulations.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to provide business‑oriented solutions.
• Proactive, pragmatic approach with solid judgment on risk and compliance.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of UK and EU financial market regulations.
• Expertise in credit trading, sales & trading, and securitisation legal frameworks.
• Ability to interpret and apply complex legal statutes to business decisions.
