Senior Water Resources WINEP Officer (14‑month contract)

About the role

The Senior Water Resources WINEP Officer will lead the delivery of Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP) projects across the Bristol Water portfolio. This temporary 14‑month contract provides technical leadership, stakeholder engagement and programme delivery to meet environmental obligations and sustainable water‑resource outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Technical leadership for WINEP water‑resources projects, providing specialist advice and reviewing investigations, options appraisals and environmental assessments.
• Manage delivery of multiple projects, ensuring they meet agreed timescales, budgets and quality standards, and maintain robust governance and reporting.
• Lead engagement with regulators such as the Environment Agency and Natural England, negotiate outcomes and build partnerships with environmental organisations, local authorities and landowners.
• Support the development of future water‑resources investigation programmes and influence long‑term environmental and water‑resource strategies.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading water‑resources or environmental projects in a regulated utility or similar setting.
• Strong understanding of UK water‑resource regulations and environmental obligations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage project risk, budgets and stakeholder relationships.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with regulators, consultants and internal teams.
