Senior/Principal Planner

About the role

Bidwells is seeking an experienced Senior or Principal Planner to join its thriving Cambridge planning team. You will play a pivotal role in shaping high‑profile regeneration projects, from science and technology hubs to mixed‑use residential and commercial schemes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide commercial planning advice and develop planning strategies for a diverse client base.
• Prepare fee proposals, manage new job enquiries and maintain client relationships.
• Engage proactively with local planning authorities and other stakeholders.
• Conduct site assessments, evaluate development potential and produce high‑quality planning submissions.
• Research and compile robust evidence, design and access statements, and other required planning documents.
• Represent clients’ commercial interests throughout the planning process, including written representations and informal hearings.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to business development initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified planner with several years of experience at senior or principal level.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex, high‑visibility projects.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Passion for sustainable urban development and regeneration.
