Service Manager – Substance Misuse Services (HMP Brixton)

About the role

The Forward Trust is seeking a Service Manager to lead the Substance Misuse Service at HMP Brixton. Based in a Category C men’s resettlement prison, you will oversee delivery of trauma‑informed, recovery‑focused programmes and drive strategic projects across London prisons.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver regional projects that improve service performance and user outcomes.
• Drive recruitment and retention initiatives to reduce vacancy levels.
• Enhance continuity of care as individuals transition from custody to community treatment.
• Support development and delivery of therapeutic programmes such as The Bridge and Stepping Stones.
• Prepare for establishment changes, including prison re‑role activity and service mobilisation.
• Oversee regional administration, ensuring NDTMS data accuracy and compliance.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in health or substance misuse services.
• Strong partnership working with healthcare providers and criminal‑justice agencies.
• Experience of managing projects and service improvement initiatives.
• Knowledge of continuity of care pathways and relevant reporting standards.

Required skills

• Familiarity with NDTMS (National Drug Treatment Monitoring System) reporting.
