Sewing Machinist

About the role

Our client in Hastings is seeking experienced Sewing Machinists to operate industrial sewing equipment and produce high‑quality textile products. This is a 6‑month temporary position with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities

• Operate industrial sewing machines (single, double and triple needle) including overlock and flatbed machines.
• Manufacture products according to detailed work orders and approved drawings.
• Apply sewing techniques such as lock stitching and hemming on a variety of materials.
• Inspect finished items for seam integrity, stitch consistency and overall craftsmanship.
• Adjust machine settings and troubleshoot issues promptly to minimise downtime.
• Maintain a clean, organised workspace and follow all safety protocols.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating industrial sewing machines in a manufacturing or textile environment.
• Strong sewing skills with an eye for detail and quality control.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders and technical drawings.
• Capability to work with light to heavy materials.
