SHE Manager – Maritime Operations

About the role

The Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Manager will lead the SHE function for KBS Maritime’s operations at HM Naval Base in Portsmouth. You will support a diverse portfolio that includes dry docks, high‑voltage electrical networks, heavy‑lifting activities, extensive road networks and waterfront facilities, ensuring the safety of employees, subcontractors and naval personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and deploy a robust SHE management system across all sites.
• Provide expert advice on CDM 2015 compliance and complex project risk management.
• Lead and supervise the SHE team, delivering assurance programmes and cross‑business initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvement programmes to embed a strong safety culture and reduce environmental risk.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate SHE processes into operational delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience in SHE management for high‑risk industrial or construction environments.
• Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 and ability to advise client, principal designer and contractor roles.
• Relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH National Diploma, Level 5 NVQ or Level 6 NCRQ, or equivalent experience.
• Chartered membership of a recognised safety, health or environmental institute is desirable.
