Sheet Metal Worker – Newhaven, East Sussex

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Worker to join our busy engineering environment in Newhaven, East Sussex. You will work within a specialist metal‑fabrication team, handling stainless‑steel components from raw material to finished product.

Key responsibilities

• Perform precision sheet‑metal work to fine tolerances, including fabrication of sheets, plates and sections.
• Carry out predominantly TIG welding, high‑grade polishing and finishing of stainless‑steel parts.
• Operate machinery such as guillotines, press brakes, plasma cutters, saws, rollers and grinders.
• Use measuring equipment – Vernier calipers, micrometers and tapes – to verify dimensions.
• Interpret engineering drawings, sketches and verbal instructions to produce components and complete assemblies.
• Work both independently and collaboratively while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and workmanship.

Required profile

• Minimum two‑year apprenticeship in metal fabrication or equivalent practical experience.
• Practical, reliable and hands‑on with strong attention to detail.
• Comfortable reading drawings and measurements; flexible and willing to learn new skills.
• Safety‑conscious, able to work as part of a team or autonomously.
• Willing to support site installations, other departments and occasional overnight projects.
