Ship Operator – Fleet Management

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Ship Operator to join Greenheart Management’s in‑house ship‑management team in London. The role sits at the core of fleet management, supporting commercial and operational oversight of vessels operating under time charter and working closely with Masters, charterers, agents and internal departments.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor day‑to‑day vessel performance, positions, schedules and cargo operations across the time‑charter fleet.
• Coordinate with Masters, charterers, agents and internal teams to ensure smooth operations and compliance with charter‑party obligations.
• Administer charter‑party terms, track hire payments, off‑hire events and performance claims, and flag any issues.
• Analyse noon reports and voyage data (speed, fuel consumption, weather routing) to build performance insights and support commercial decisions.
• Prepare and maintain operational records, voyage logs and internal performance reports.
• Assist in dispute resolution, including speed/consumption claims and delays, and ensure accurate revenue reporting to accounting.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in shipping operations or a related maritime role.
• A degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics or a comparable field is welcomed but not mandatory.
• Strong analytical and numerical abilities with high attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Commercial awareness of cost implications of operational decisions.
• Team‑oriented, proactive problem‑solver able to manage multiple vessels under pressure.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
• Experience with Veson IMOS (advantageous).
