Shipping Coordinator – Import/Export Logistics

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Shipping Coordinator to manage import and export shipments for a multinational oil and gas client in Inverurie. This 12‑month fixed‑term position offers a competitive hourly rate and the chance to work closely with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Organise import and export shipments, obtain freight quotes, prepare shipping documentation and coordinate with internal departments.
• Communicate with customers and arrange collections in line with FCA Incoterms.
• Prepare accurate commercial invoices and shipping paperwork compliant with international regulations.
• Ensure all import/export activities adhere to HMRC regulations and company policies.
• Liaise with brokerage teams to follow correct customs procedures.
• Collaborate with Sales, Production, Procurement and Warehouse teams to ensure timely movement of materials and equipment.
• Monitor shipment progress, resolve delays and address any shipping or quality issues.
• Maintain accurate shipping registers and archive records appropriately.
• Support audits and inspections as required.
• Provide regular updates to production managers regarding collections and deliveries.

Required profile

• HND or equivalent in a relevant business discipline.
• Strong knowledge of import/export logistics, customs regulations and Incoterms 2020.
• Experience with international sea, air and road transport operations.
• Familiarity with shipping documentation such as CIPL, BOL, AWB, CMR and MRN.
• Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
• Customer‑service focus and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Desirable: CILT qualification and/or IATA/IMDG/ADR Dangerous Goods certification.
