Shop Assistant

About the role

The British Red Cross is looking for a Shop Assistant in Stony Stratford, Buckinghamshire, to run its high-street shop, described as the 'window of the British Red Cross'. The role is a 6-month fixed-term contract of 14 hours per week, with a salary of £24,479 per annum pro rata. Applications close on 12 November 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the shop manager in running a customer-focused shop on the high street.
• Create a good shopping environment and provide an excellent customer experience in store.
• Be the first point of contact for customers, operate the till and create striking displays.
• Sort stock and prepare items for display behind the scenes.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a retail environment.
• Confidence handling money.
• Strong communicator who enjoys excellent customer service and meeting many different people.
• Commercial mindset with a grasp of hitting targets.
• Ability to anticipate each customer's needs and delight them.
