Site Process Engineer – Manufacturing Optimization

About the role

We are seeking a Site Process Engineer to join the Operations team in Chelmsford. The role focuses on analysing and improving manufacturing processes, driving efficiency, reducing waste and ensuring safe, reliable production.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse current manufacturing workflows and design improvements to boost efficiency and cut waste.
• Implement Lean and Six Sigma initiatives, conduct root‑cause analyses and resolve process or equipment issues.
• Provide daily engineering support to production, develop testing methods and monitor process capability.
• Lead performance‑improvement projects, support new product introductions and integrate new technologies into existing lines.
• Create and maintain SOPs, work instructions and process flow diagrams, and deliver training to operational teams.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations and support audits and corrective actions.
• Assist with equipment selection, commissioning of new technologies and reporting of process KPIs to management.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in process engineering, manufacturing or continuous improvement.
• Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and root‑cause analysis tools.
• Experience with process simulation software and data analysis.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to write SOPs and deliver process training.
• Understanding of health, safety and environmental regulations.
