SOC Analyst – Remote, £500‑£550/day (Inside IR35)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced SOC Analyst to join a top‑tier consultancy’s cyber security team on a contract basis. Working remotely, you will protect critical infrastructure and user environments within a high‑impact Security Operations Centre.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor security telemetry, triage alerts and identify potential compromises.
• Investigate, contain and resolve validated incidents to minimise business disruption.
• Escalate complex, high‑priority incidents to senior engineering teams and communicate risks to stakeholders.
• Support detection engineering by suggesting SIEM rule refinements and signature updates.
• Stay informed on emerging threats, CVEs and attacker techniques to adapt defensive postures.

Required profile

• Active UK Security Clearance (SC) at the time of application.
• Previous experience working in an enterprise SOC environment.
• Strong understanding of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS) and enterprise operating systems.
• Familiarity with incident response frameworks, playbooks and escalation procedures.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SIEM platforms.
• Experience using EDR/XDR tools and host intrusion prevention systems (HIPS).
• Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Understanding of phishing, malware behaviours and common attack vectors.
• Ability to track CVEs and incorporate threat intelligence into SOC processes.
