Social Media Executive

About the role

Octopus Energy is looking for a versatile Social Media Executive to shape its online voice. You will create and publish a wide range of content – from videos and graphics to memes and written posts – that makes the brand engaging, funny, and impossible to ignore.

Key responsibilities

• Produce video, graphic, and written content for TikTok, X, Instagram, YouTube and other platforms.
• Monitor trends, viral formats and cultural moments to generate timely, shareable posts.
• Pitch new ideas weekly and execute them without waiting for a brief.
• Collaborate with the Community Management team on complex customer interactions and occasional shift coverage.
• Prioritise weekly output based on real‑time insights rather than long‑term calendars.
• Analyse performance data to test, learn and continuously improve content.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience creating social‑media content for a brand (agency or in‑house).
• Strong video production and editing capabilities.
• Familiarity with social listening tools, preferably Brandwatch.
• Graphic design ability to craft memes, stories, thumbnails, etc.
• Proactive, execution‑first mindset with a habit of pitching and delivering ideas.
