Social Worker – Assessment & Intervention (Full‑time)

About the role

The Assessment & Intervention Service within Torbay Council is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to provide intensive support to families, ensuring safe and nurturing environments for children. This full‑time position involves both direct case work and participation in a duty rota to maintain service continuity.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families at risk.
• Develop and implement tailored intervention plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
• Manage a caseload while contributing to a duty rota for service coverage.
• Produce accurate records, reports, and case notes in line with statutory requirements.
• Engage with families to promote long‑term stability and well‑being.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker with experience in assessment and child protection.
• Strong understanding of child welfare policies, regulations, and safeguarding procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work sensitively in crisis situations and maintain professional boundaries.
• Commitment to inclusive practice and diversity.

Required skills

• Proficient in case recording and report writing.
• Competent use of IT systems for case management.
