Social Worker – Children in Care (Milton Keynes)

About the role

Milton Keynes City Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join its Children in Care team. This full‑time, temporary position offers the chance to support vulnerable children and young people, delivering high‑quality, child‑centred care within a stable and supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Chair multi‑agency and multidisciplinary meetings.
• Complete statutory assessments and annual reviews.
• Develop and implement child‑centred care plans.
• Manage a caseload of up to 18 children, including those under care and placement orders.
• Work collaboratively with IROs, health services, and education teams.
• Provide direct work, life‑story work, and ongoing placement support.
• Ensure children’s needs are met through coordinated interventions.
• Contribute to adoption support, including life‑story book creation.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Recent experience (within the last 5 years) in Children in Care and adoption.
• Strong assessment, care planning, and case‑management skills.
• Ability to manage a varied and complex caseload.
• Commitment to collaborative, multi‑disciplinary working.
