Software Engineer

About the role

Rolls‑Royce is seeking a Software Engineer to join its UK engineering teams (Derby, Solihull or Bristol) in a hybrid working model. You will contribute to the design, development and verification of safety‑critical software components for aerospace systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop software components from high‑level requirements through verification, meeting DO‑178 objectives.
• Evaluate test results, investigate defects and support customer issue analysis.
• Apply configuration‑management and change‑control practices within a DevOps environment.
• Collaborate in Agile cross‑functional teams to integrate components into the wider system architecture.
• Create technical documentation and reports to evidence design decisions and verification outcomes.
• Support departmental growth through process improvement, knowledge sharing and tool development.

Required profile

• Practical experience in software design, embedded development and module‑level testing.
• Familiarity with model‑based or C‑based development and engineering lifecycle processes.
• Ability to interpret technical data, assess risks and communicate findings clearly.
• Strong ownership, analytical mindset and collaborative attitude.
