Software Engineer – Java, Spring, AWS (Craigavon)

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join Almac’s IS Software Engineering team at our global headquarters in Craigavon. You will design, develop and deliver high‑quality software that supports our worldwide operations, working across the full software development lifecycle in a regulated, fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java‑based applications using Spring / Spring Boot.
• Implement database solutions with Oracle and SQL, ensuring performance and reliability.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and support end‑to‑end delivery of features.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure solutions meet usability, scalability, security and reliability standards.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives and adopt modern technologies such as containerisation and cloud services.
• Provide occasional support outside standard working hours when required.

Required profile

• Eligibility to work in the UK (or a valid work permit).
• Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Strong experience developing Java applications with Spring / Spring Boot.
• Proficiency with Oracle databases and SQL.
• Solid understanding of object‑oriented programming principles.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and full SDLC delivery.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
