Specialist Airworthiness Engineer – Regulatory & Safety Lead

About the role

Rolls‑Royce is looking for a Specialist Airworthiness Engineer to act as the critical bridge between the company, regulatory authorities such as EASA, and internal engineering teams. This permanent, full‑time position in Derby offers a high‑visibility opportunity to influence product safety and certification strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary interface with airworthiness authorities, maintaining strong relationships and negotiating regulatory requirements.
• Provide independent oversight of product safety and airworthiness compliance across projects.
• Review, accept, and certify technical documentation, ensuring evidence meets safety and regulatory standards.
• Identify, escalate, and drive corrective actions for any airworthiness concerns.
• Support accident/incident investigations when required.
• Guide engineering teams on certification approvals, compliance reporting, and regulatory expectations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in aerospace airworthiness, certification, or product safety.
• Strong judgement, independence, and ability to challenge decisions when necessary.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with senior stakeholders, regulators, and cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of EASA regulations and certification processes.
• Experience reviewing certification, service, and safety documentation.
• Ability to interpret and negotiate regulatory requirements.
