Specialty Doctor – Glaucoma (Part‑time, 6‑12 month FTC)

About the role

Optegra Eye Healthcare is seeking a qualified Specialty Doctor to support its NHS glaucoma service on a part‑time basis. This fixed‑term position (6‑12 months) offers the chance to work within a dynamic, forward‑thinking team while delivering high‑quality clinical and surgical care to patients with glaucoma.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, evaluate and manage patients with existing or undiagnosed glaucoma and other ocular conditions.
• Perform diagnostic tests such as visual field assessments, OCT, Volk lens examinations, CCT measurement and gonioscopy.
• Develop and implement management plans for glaucoma referrals, including pre‑operative and post‑operative care.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists and other healthcare professionals to create comprehensive treatment strategies.
• Participate in team meetings, service development initiatives and maintain accurate patient records in line with regulations.

Required profile

• Medical degree from a recognised university.
• Valid GMC registration with a licence to practise in the UK.
• Proven experience in ophthalmology, specifically in glaucoma management.
