Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine

About the role

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust is expanding its Emergency Department team and is looking for a Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine. This permanent, full‑time role (10 PA) will be based in the Weston‑super‑Mare site and offers the chance to work within a large, award‑winning Trust serving over half a million people.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical care to all patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
• Formulate diagnoses and develop management plans in line with departmental protocols.
• Document patient care accurately in both written and electronic records.
• Support and advise junior doctors on emergency medicine matters.
• Participate in the shift rota, clinical audits and the annual staff appraisal process.

Required profile

• Fully registered medical doctor with appropriate GMC registration.
• Post‑graduate experience in Emergency Medicine (e.g., CT1/CT2 or equivalent).
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality patient care in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment and acute decision‑making.
• Proficiency with emergency department information systems and electronic documentation.
• Experience conducting clinical audits and quality improvement projects.
