Specialty Doctor

About the role

The Specialty Doctor will join Priory Hospital North London’s mental health team, delivering high‑quality assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients with complex psychiatric conditions. Working in a historic Grade I listed building, you will help patients recover in a supportive, person‑centred environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive medical assessments, diagnose and treat complex mental health disorders.
• Collaborate with the Consultant Psychiatrist and multidisciplinary team to develop and review individual care plans.
• Lead ward rounds, clinical reviews and risk assessments, ensuring patient safety.
• Prescribe medication safely and maintain accurate clinical records in line with GMC standards.
• Contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and service development initiatives.
• Provide clinical guidance and mentorship to junior doctors and other team members.

Required profile

• Full registration with the GMC, holding a licence to practise.
• At least four years of postgraduate medical training, including a minimum of two years in a relevant specialty.
• Proven experience in psychiatry, managing patients with complex mental health needs.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary teams, conducting risk assessments and developing treatment plans.
• Strong knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, safeguarding and clinical governance principles.
