Specification Technologist

About the role

The Specification Technologist will create and maintain accurate customer specifications for a leading UK food retailer. Working from our Leeds site, you will ensure products meet retailer, legal and internal quality standards while supporting new product launches.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and keep up‑to‑date customer specifications and retailer documentation.
• Secure specification approval ahead of product launches.
• Prepare nutritional information, ingredient declarations and product labels.
• Maintain compliance with current food legislation.
• Support artwork approvals and document quality attributes.
• Manage raw material specifications, supplier approvals and technical records.

Required profile

• Previous specification writing experience in food manufacturing.
• Experience using retailer specification systems.
• Knowledge of BRCGS Food Safety requirements.
• Strong Microsoft Office and IT skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, communication and organisational abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
• HACCP Level 3 qualification desirable.
• Experience in chilled or short shelf‑life food manufacturing desirable but not essential.
