Speech and Language Therapist – Special School

About the role

The Heritage House School is seeking a qualified Speech and Language Therapist to join its multidisciplinary team. You will work closely with teachers, teaching assistants and other therapists to embed therapy within the daily curriculum and support learners aged 2‑19 with severe and complex communication needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individual and small‑group therapy sessions, assessing and planning programmes for speech, language and social communication.
• Collaborate with classroom staff to integrate therapeutic strategies and specialised equipment into lessons.
• Monitor progress, maintain high‑quality notes and reports, and contribute to annual review documentation.
• Communicate regularly with parents, carers and external professionals, providing updates and advice.
• Deliver training and guidance to school staff on communication support and best practices.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, EHCP reviews and school development initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with experience supporting learners with additional needs.
• Organised, motivated and able to work both strategically and responsively within a high‑quality provision.
• Desirable but not essential: training in dysphagia.
