Staff Nurse (Band 5) – Portree Hospital

About the role

We are seeking Band 5 Registered Nurses to join the ward team at Portree Hospital, a community hospital on the Isle of Skye. The role involves providing high‑quality nursing care to patients requiring rehabilitation, end‑of‑life, dementia and urgent‑care services in a rural setting.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care on a mixed ward, including rehabilitation, palliative, and dementia care.
• Perform clinical procedures such as enteral feeding via PEG and support Advanced Practitioners in the Urgent Care Centre.
• Participate in discharge planning to enable patients to return home where possible.
• Use clinical judgement and initiative when GPs or Advanced Practitioners are not on site.
• Collaborate with staff at Broadford Hospital and potentially work across both sites.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (Band 5) with a current NHS nursing registration.
• Willingness to work a rotating day‑and‑night schedule, full‑time or part‑time.
• Ability to work in a remote, rural environment and adapt to varied patient needs.
• Full driving licence is advantageous; relocation support may be available.
