Staff Nurse – Mental Health Unscheduled Care

About the role

The NHS Ayrshire and Arran is seeking two Band 5 Staff Nurses to join the Mental Health Unscheduled Care Service at the Assessment Hub. This fixed‑term position (until 31 March 2027) offers 36 hours per week on a rotating shift pattern that includes nights and weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Provide assessment and crisis intervention for mental health service users across Ayrshire & Arran.
• Support delivery of home‑treatment packages in collaboration with Police Scotland and the Ayrshire Urgent Care Service.
• Work both day and night within the new Unscheduled Care Mental Health Assessment Hub.
• Maintain accurate records and adhere to mental health legislation and policies.
• Operate as a lone worker when required, ensuring safety and professional standards.

Required profile

• Registered Mental Nurse (RMN) qualification.
• UK driving licence (essential).
• Experience in acute mental health nursing within the community, preferably in crisis or home‑treatment teams.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently.
• Good understanding of current mental health policies and legislation.
